Design Contest

Trash Bin Win

We need a cheap enclosure made from scraps and recycled parts for our outdoor trash bins, so we're having a design contest. To enter, please submit your design including materials selection and proposed construction process along with an approximate budget via mail or email by October 1.

Designs will be judged for secure access, attractiveness, creativity, durability, and cheapness. The winning design will be built and installed in front of the mart. Questions should be addressed to Reuben Reyes, Frankenart Project Manager.

Scavenge

Street Santa

We'll be scavenging the streets of San Francisco throughout the show. San Francisco's Street Santa is by far the most generative and generous in all the land. To show our gratitude for his gifts, we will be creating sidewalk shrines to Street Santa in the Inner Richmond. You are encouraged to seek them out and pay your respects.

Tugboat Dreams

Oh Salvage

The best thing about living in a port town is that there's a port - full of freight and salvage. There will be several field trips during this show. Sure, my dream is to ride a tugboat alongside a Chinese freight ship and to tour Schnitzers Steel recycling plant, but I can settle for a bike tour of the Oakland port. If any of you out there have access to freight and salvage venues, email our tipline.
